Solviva designs offer sustainable ways to live.
Here are the descriptions and prices of the various available
Solviva designs that have been developed over the last 20 years.
Most of them are drawn to scale, but are not full-fledged stamped
architectural plans (we are working on that, but they will be
far more costly). However, experienced people should be able
to build from these drawings, with some additional consulting
time. Many detail options for windows, joinery, glazing etc
are left up to the wishes of individuals.
It is essential to understand that significant changes to these
designs, such as reducing the number of vents, or widening or
narrowing the growing beds, or reducing the volume of water
mass, may significantly reduce energy-efficiency and productivity.
Appropriate amounts of consulting time may save considerable
amounts of time, money and frustration.
The various Solviva designs can be modified to be larger or
smaller than shown on these drawings. Custom design is also
offered. All designs and drawings are protected by Copyright.

... SOLVIVA 3000 s.f. GREENHOUSE (a.k.a: the "SOLVIVA
WINTER GARDEN")
13 sheets containing detailed drawings with numbered descriptions.
Sheet No.1
shows interior/exterior see-through views in perspective,
as seen from southeast, with 24 numbered written descriptions.
It shows the Waterwall, the enclosures for the chickens and
rabbits, the raised beds, the hanging growtubes, the solar water-heating,
the framing and venting, the Earthlung filter. and the air circulation
system.
Sheet No.2 shows the downstairs
and the upstairs floor plans, and has 19 numbered written descriptions.
Sheet No.3 shows materials
list "A", with 17 numbered descriptions.
Sheet No.4 shows materials
list "B" for lower and upper floor plan, with 15 numbered
written descriptions.
Sheet No.5 shows materials
list "C", and perspective cut-away view as seen from
southeast, with 23 numbered written descriptions.
Sheet No.6 shows perspective
cut-away view from northeast, especially detailing the construction
and placement of the hanging Growtubes, and production in them.
Sheet No.7 shows details
of the Earthlung Air Filter, for moving air from animal quarters
to the plant room, for trapping the ammonia but letting through

STANDARD DOUBLE-POLY GREENHOUSE
A new design that reduces costs and increases
production and income.
Seven sheets show standard metal-frame (new or
used) double-poly covered greenhouse, "Solvivized"
to be energy self-sufficient in any climate. With Earthlung
Filter, Waterwall, subsoil solar-heat storage, heat-releasing
ventilation, quarters for chickens or other animals, wood-heated
hot-tub, multi-level growing areas, one-step production of "micromix"(
highest value salad greens). Also shows areas for processing,
as well as composting and soil storage/blending. Many numbered

FOOD FACTORY
5 sheets of drawings show construction details
for a 15 x 24-foot home-scale energy-self-sufficient greenhouse,
with space for chickens or other warm-blooded animals. If managed
efficiently, this greenhouse could produce over 500 pounds of
organic vegetables, greens and herbs per year, plus copious
amounts of wholesome chicken and eggs.

view of the first Solviva solargreen home, as built in 1980,
with some improvement modifications, such as a "rat-slab"
under the sunroom section, and the full basement with concrete
floor instead of crawlspace with dirt floor.
It contains 34 numbered descriptions of the interior garden
and movable window insulation, the solar heating and storage
of air and water, the solar cooling, the compostoilet, the wood-heating

... SOLVIVA COMPOSTOILET No.1
One sheet showing the most versatile, simplest and least costly
of the Solviva Compostoilets. This toilet is shown in exterior
and interior view on pages in 41 and 51 in the SOLVIVA book.
It requires no space below the floor of the toilet room. Instead,
a 20-gallon plastic barrel serves as a holding chamber, and
it sits in an attractive wood cabinet topped with a toilet lid.
When the barrel is 3/4 full it is pulled out through a small
door in the exterior wall right behind the toilet, and is placed
in the small adjacent solar composting shed. A clean barrel
is immediately replaced into the toilet cabinet. The whole operation
takes less than 3 minutes. This toilet can serve a single person,
a family, or a crowd. For a single person, the barrels need
to be exchanged about once every 4 weeks. For a crowd-event
the barrel may need to be exchanged once a day. With 15 numbered

and shows the dispenser for biocarbon cover material, the urine

interior space below the toilet, to accommodate the composting
